Gravity Die Casting vs. Low Pressure Die Casting

Table of Contents

Gravity die casting and low pressure die casting all belong to metal mold casting process, both are used to produce aluminum castings. They all use metal mold for manufacturing, typical used mold material is H13 in China.

Gravity die casting and low-pressure die casting process can produce the same grade of cast aluminum alloy. Besides, these two aluminum casting methods have similar features in pouring temperature, mold opening time, and mechanical properties (density, strength, etc).

Gravity Die Casting vs. Low Pressure Die Casting

Gravity die casting and low-pressure die casting are still different in forming principle, aluminum casting structure, labor intensity, batch quantity, development time and other aspects, as shown in the following figure:

Process Working Principle Part Structure MOQ Development Time Mold Cost
Gravity Die Casting Use Gravity Complex & Diverse 200pcs Short Lower
Low Pressure Die Casting By Air Pressure Single 5,000pcs Long Higher

By comparison, gravity die casting is more suitable for the production of aluminum castings in small batch and short development cycle. While low pressure die casting is suitable for manufacturing aluminum castings in larger quantities. If the wall thickness of the aluminum part is thin, the structure is suitable for low pressure die casting process.

Typical aluminum low-pressure die casting process is the production of the car wheel ring, the structure of this aluminum casting is very suitable for the structure characteristics of low-pressure die casting process, and the production is very large, there is enough time to make the improvement of production technology.

The typical aluminum gravity die casting process is the production of industrial robot castings. These aluminum castings have small production batch, high product quality requirements, short development cycle, and need to produce high-quality aluminum castings without any porosity and sand holes in a very short time.

Aluminum Casting of Electrical Enclosure Housings

Aluminum Casting of Electrical Enclosure Housings

Electrical and electronic components need reliable protection from impact, dust, moisture, heat and electromagnetic interference. While plastic and fabricated sheet metal enclosures suit some applications, they may not provide the strength, heat dissipation or environmental resistance required for demanding industrial equipment. Aluminum casting of electrical enclosure housings offers an effective solution. By selecting a proper casting process, manufacturers like CFS Foundry can produce strong, lightweight housings with complex shapes and minimum material waste. As an experienced aluminum casting manufacturer, CFS

How Sand Cores Work in Gravity Casting

How Sand Cores Work in Gravity Casting

At CFS Foundry, our gravity casting process is well suited to create strong, dimensionally stable aluminium castings, but a permanent metal mould can form only the surfaces it can release. What happens when a component needs a curved water passage, a sealed internal chamber or a deep recess that cannot be pulled directly from the die? In many cases, the answer is a sand core. Sand cores act as temporary inserts inside the metal mould. Molten aluminium flows around them

Bench with Cast Aluminum Legs

Cast Aluminum Bench Legs

Introduction Cast aluminum bench legs are widely used in garden furniture, public seating, commercial benches, patio furniture, and customised architectural projects. They provide the structural support required for a bench while also contributing to its overall appearance. Depending on the design, bench legs can be modern and minimal, traditional and decorative, or engineered for demanding public environments. Compared with fabricated steel structures, cast aluminum legs can be produced as integrated components with curved profiles, mounting bosses, reinforcing ribs, armrests, decorative
