Our Investment Casting Process for Bucket Teeth Manufacturing

To ensure high precision and excellent mechanical properties, we use investment casting process to create various types of bucket teeth. The investment casting process used by CFS Foundry ensures the production of high-quality bucket teeth with superior durability, precision, and performance, making them ideal for demanding construction and excavation applications. Here is a breakdown of the process steps for bucket teeth manufacturing at our Foundry.
Wax pattern creation is the first step to start investment casting process for bucket teeth. It is formed by injecting wax into molds quickly. These wax patterns are the exact replicas of the bucket teeth. The quality of wax patterns will direct affect the precision of bucket teeth, so it is important to check the quality of wax patterns before moving forward.
Once wax patterns are prepared, they are attached to a central wax rod, forming a structure called a “tree.” This wax tree will contain multiple wax bucket teeth patterns, allowing multiple components to be cast simultaneously, which improves efficiency.
The wax tree is repeatedly dipped into ceramic slurry and coated with fine sand to create a ceramic shell around the wax patterns. This shell is built up layer by layer until it reaches the desired thickness and strength. CFS Foundry ensures a controlled drying process, allowing each layer to harden properly, resulting in a strong ceramic mold capable of withstanding high temperatures.
After the preparation of ceramic shell, the next step is to remove the wax patterns by heating the shell in an autoclave. The wax melts and drains away under high temperature, leaving a hollow ceramic mold. This step is a dewaxing process, achieving a cavity in the shape of the bucket teeth.
Next step is to melt the solid metal into liquid status, and poured into the hollow cavity of the shell. The metal cools and solifies quickly to form the solid shape of bucket teeth. CFS Foundry uses high-quality alloys to ensure the finished bucket teeth are tough and resistant to wear, providing the strength needed for excavation tasks. Then, the bucket teeth are taken off after breaking away the shell.
Heat treatment is also an important step in the production of bucket teeth. The heat treatment process includes quenching and tempering. Quenching treatment can further improve the hardness of bucket teeth, while tempering can adjust the toughness and impact of the teeth. After heat treatment, the bucket teeth would be shot blasted to achieve smooth surface finish, and painted for anti-rusting.
